Portville Central School currently employs one full-time Elementary School Counselor, Mrs. Betsy Griffith,
with responsibilities covering grades PK - 5. Counseling services are available for all students. Counseling areas include behavior, academic, peer, social problems, or any other issue a student may feel he/she would like to discuss with a counselor. Special interest counseling groups are formed and operated on specific topics such as self-esteem, divorce, study skills, and other areas as requested. Referrals are made to outside agencies when appropriate.
Students wishing to visit a counselor may arrange an appointment directly with Mrs. Griffith or through their teacher, the school nurse, an administrator, or the Guidance Secretary, Mrs. McCracken. Parents may make appointments for conferences with Mrs. Griffith by telephoning her at (716) 933-6042 (direct) or (716) 933-6000, ext. 6042.
