The library media centers of Portville Central School strives to create a library media program which:

I. Implements, enriches, and supports the educational curriculum of the school.

II. Contributes to users growth as informed intelligent citizens.  The library fosters literacy, nurtures lifelong learning, and teaches patrons how to access, evaluate, and effectively use information.

III. Provides print and non-print material for users of all abilities and reading levels.

IV. Provides access to technological databases including the Internet.

V. Reflects changing cultural patterns and provides accurate and current information in all fields of knowledge.

VI. Strives towards flexibility and balance in range and proportion of materials.

VII. Provides recreational viewing, listening, and reading opportunities.
